This was a B2B client who was (obviously) unhappy with my decision not to run their video ad and instead run a long form copy ad

They reluctantly agreed to give my strategy a chance. Long story short, the test was a huge success and I ended up writing a case study that explained how this client had managed to generate $240,000 in revenues at 1866% ROI from Facebook ads alone.

After the case study was published, I continued to run & write their FB ads and they recently reached out to say: “We’ve generated $700,000 in sales in the last 2 years. Now, what can we do to push it to a million?”

James Caan, who is worth over $100 million today, attributed his success to his father’s piece of advice:  “Look at what the crowd does - and do the opposite.”

That is exactly what I did at Stratgyzer when they just wanted to run “A hurry up, buy quickly!” ad.

Instead of doing that, I knew supermarkets like Mash and Costco got up to 2000% in extra sales by giving away samples, so I used ads to give people a pre-taste of what to expect at Stratgyzer’s €2000 upcoming event.

As a result, and instead of making $0.40 for every $1 spent, they made $18.66 for each $1 they spent.

Success is often more about strategies than tactics.

 

BUILD YOUR BUSINESS ON LONG-TERM STRATEGY, NOT THE SHINY OBJECT OF THE MOMENT

People often get sucked into fads: “Oh!, carousel ads. Oh!, lead ads. Ohh!, this is what will work now”.

Some people will even ask me: “Do we go for carousel or video ads?”

And I reply: “That is like asking ‘Should I add ketchup or chocolate?’

Try adding ketchup to your cereal, or chocolate to your hotdog.

The answer lies in the context. 

And there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
